After (not) much waiting, my latest shipment from CD Japan has finally arrived!

Over the Christmas holidays I accumulated four 500 yen coupons due to CD Japan’s holiday promotion, and this shipment of 3 singles clears my 3rd one ^^

I have built upquite a big collection of CDs which I listen to on my Onkyo CR-515. Bought it from Liang Court and my father managed to bargain it down by a S$100 to S$499. His bargaining skills never cease to amaze me T_T

These are the discs I listen to almost every single day if I don’t stay in camp. They are the sola OP and ED, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OP and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai OP (both sang by Shimamiya Eiko), Kanon OST and CLANNAD OP/ED (eufonius kicks butt). I absolutely cannot get sick of these tunes no matter what… they are that good. Especially Kanon OST track 10. Nothing beats that ^^

When I got time, like on dismounts or on weekends, I can spend 1-2 hours listening to my entire collection in my room. Music in anime is really powerful stuff and more important than live-action shows in setting the mood and overall impression. In a sense, anime is actually 2.5D entertainment and not merely 2D due to the amount of effort and time spent in making music for anime.

That’s why watching anime with a substantial volume is essential and I don’t understand how some people can watch anime on their PSPs without earphones. Not only does this shut out the music, you can’t hear the Seiyuus demonstrate their skill in character voice imagery, which makes the experience rather dead.

I am aware of some extremists that simply download the MP3 of their favourite anime tune and listen to it on their computer while also buying the CD and never unwrapping it. I don’t know how viable this is, because MP3 can never beat CD quality music. I have been listening to some of these songs that I bought on my MP3 player for almost a year and listening to it on a proper sound system is really like listening to it for the first time.

I mean, I would love to leave my CDs shrink wrapped and unspoilt, but heck then I’ll never get my 2 hours of euphoria. And, no, I’m not filthy rich enough to buy 2 copies of the same CD.

I’ll upload samples of some music in this post when I got the time.. gotta rush off for my job interview now. Heck if I don’t get a viable source of income after I ORD, I’ll just shrivel up and die XD
